Being an employer – HMRC offers new webinar dates

HMRC are offering help and support to employers with a series of free online ‘webinars’.

A webinar is like watching a conference speaker on a stage from the comfort of your own home. By logging in at the appropriate time through your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, you will be able to listen to HMRC talking whilst watching their presentation.

HMRC’s webinars last for about an hour. A list of dates and times of some of their forthcoming webinars for employers are below. You will need to register for these webinars beforehand (you can do this by clicking on the link below). You can join, ask questions and leave at any point – no special equipment is needed. To ask questions – use the on-screen textbox and HMRC will send a response.


What’s new for 2017 – This webinar will provide an overview of new and changed processes for the 2017 to 2018 tax year.

Payroll: annual reporting and tasks – This webinar is for employers and covers end-of-year tasks, the P60 form, a brief look at reporting expenses and benefits, sending the last FPS to HMRC, preparing for the new tax year, and actions for Basic PAYE Tools user

Getting payroll information right – This webinar shows you how to give accurate information to HMRC.

Webinars on other topics are available, including on how to avoid in-year penalties and on statutory payments (e.g. statutory sick pay). The full list of webinars, plus details on HMRC’s videos and email service, can be found on GOV.UK.

If you are not able to make a ‘live’ webinar, you can also watch a recording of a webinar which has already taken place. At the time of writing, there are no live dates scheduled for the webinars on topics such as The National Living Wage / The National Minimum Wage for employers or Care and Support Employers, however there are recorded webinars available.
