HMRC are offering minimum wage help and support to employers with a series of free online ‘webinars’ and an online course.

HMRC have updated their 'Help and Support with employing people' schedule with a webinars on The National Living Wage and the National Minimum Wage.

15 February 2018, 11am – midday

This webinar will discuss:

  • the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage
  • common errors made by employers
  • working time and deductions

8 March 2018, 11am – midday

This webinar will discuss:

  • apprenticeships
  • employment status
  • how to avoid common errors made by employers

Webinars can last up to an hour. Register and log in at least 5 minutes before a live webinar is due to start.

To ask questions – use the on-screen textbox and the HMRC representative will send a response. They can’t check your records and they can’t discuss anything confidential, but they can answer general questions.

You can also use their new online course to find out more about the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage.

Some pages of the course have links to extra information (in blue underlined text).

It takes most people about an hour to work through the whole course, but it may take longer if you follow all of the links to more detailed information. Saying that, you do not need to tackle it all in one go. HMRC have written it in short sections so you can come back to the guide and visit the individual pages or sections as often as you like whenever it suits you.

HMRC have also included some questions along the way so you can “test yourself”.
