You may work for a local authority, a charity, support organisations or be a friend or relative. Use the menu on the right to access factsheets, details of training events and other useful information. Over time we will update the content of this site to address the issues and concerns you contact us about via our help service.
Our website focuses on the tax and National Insurance consequences of taking on a personal assistant. Although have tried to include other useful information, we are not employment law or benefit specialists. The following organisations offer a range of support on employment law matters:

Skills for Care have a toolkit which can help people who are employing a personal assistant. It includes several sample templates including job description, interview questions, contract of employment, risk assessment, application form, safety in the home checklist and a disciplinary form. The toolkit also contains useful leaflets that can be downloaded.
